Example – Ferris Wheel (Prop to Prop)
This example shows you how to link a prop to other props. Sometimes you need to do some compensation of position, scale and rotation to get a better result. Please follow the steps below.
-
Prepare a Ferris wheel prop. (You may use any 3D tool to model and convert the model into VNS file by means of iClone 3DXchange)
-
Apply a cylinder in the Prop Template library. Adjust the size so it fits the width of the Ferris wheel. Please make sure the cylinder’s center is on the origin.
-
Click Add button.
-
Duplicate this cylinder for 12 times from the custom library. Move them individually to the adequate location.
-
Click Merge button, reset the newly created prop to the origin.
-
Remove all the props except the merged one. Use the timeline to rotate the merged prop only once throughout the whole project.
-
Click the Add button to add it into the Custom library. Remove the prop from the project.
-
Add a prop as the Cabin. Adjust it so that the hanging part locates on the origin.
-
Use the timeline to rotate the cabin once, in the reverse direction of the Ferris wheel, throughout the whole project.
-
Add another prop and modify its size to (0, 0, 0). Click Merge button and Add it to the custom library. Click Remove all button again.
Now you have one cylinder, one rotating Ferris wheel with 12 cylinders and one rotating cabin in the Custom Library.
-
Apply the rotating Ferris wheel.
-
Apply the Cabin for 12 times.
-
Attach the cabins respectively to the Ferris wheel’s cylinders. Remember to check up the Align Position to Parent box.
-
Play the project.
